Brother of Dollis Hill father killed in Islington hit-and-run in plea to runaway driver

Christian Flaubert Miranda Borges, 29, had become a father for the first time in October

The brother of a new father from Dollis Hill killed in a hit-and-run crash in Islington is appealing for the runaway driver to give himself in.

Christian Flaubert Miranda Borges, 29, of Gladstone Park Gardens, died following a collision with his motorbike, a London taxi and people on November 29.

The taxi driver stopped at the scene but the person behind the wheel of the second vehicle sped off following the incident in Baring Street.

Mr Borges, a Brazilian takeaway driver, was engaged and became a father for the first time on October 2 following the birth of his son Victor.

His brother Angel Alan Miranda Borges told the Times he hoped witnesses and the driver would come forward.

He said: “The taxi driver stopped at the scene, doing his duty as a human being but what about the person (or people) who fled?

“I pray and hope this case can be solved. I hope that if the person responsible is reading this their conscience will make them realise the consequences of their actions.

“My brother Christian was happy, working and in love with life and little Victor’s mother. There’s sadness in the family, for my brother was always joyful, a great person and friend. He would always have a smile on his face.

“And now, he’s only resting in peace.”

Detectives investigating the incident have released the image of a car captured near the scene.

They would like to speak to the driver.

Detective Sergeant Chris Osborne, from the Road Death Investigation Unit at Northolt, said: “We are continuing to study a vast amount of CCTV but it is clear it was a very busy time and there were a lot of people in the area at the time.

“We would urge those people to come forward with information no matter how trivial it is.”

Anyone with information should call DS Osborne on 020 8842 1817 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
