THE 5th London Boys’ Brigade Company Bugle Band held its first official parade in February 1887 and still continues to this day. In the beginning, the Company met weekly at its headquarters at the Leysian Mission, then based in Whitecross Street, before moving to a more impressive site at 112 City Road. The Company made a further HQ move in the latter part of the 20th century to Wesley’s Chapel, City Road, where it is still based.

I was in the 5th London during the 1960s to 1970s. I am still actively involved via the London Stedfast Association which is an organisation for former BB members and their families.

In 2008, I was the joint organiser of an event to celebrate the twin anniversaries of London Stedfast (25th) and BB (125th). I am toying with the idea of doing something similar in 2013 for the 30th and 130th anniversaries but only if I knew there would be lots of new faces attending.
