The bespoke framers was open for three decades before closing last year following a rent hike, and owner Angela Finbow made the decision decided to bow out.

But now the rest of the staff have relaunched the shop, much to the delight of old customers.

“We opened it very quietly,” said Daniel Lloyd. “We didn’t really tell anyone because we didn’t want to be overworked. But now people have started to discover us and old customers are coming in too. It’s going really well.”

The framers are craftspeople, photographers and artists by training and are happy to discuss specifications with customers.

Daniel added: “We frequently have customers coming to us with bags of artwork saying, ‘I didn’t know where else to go!’”

This isn’t the first time The Frame Factory has featured in the Gazette. Back in 2003 Angela and her team made it on to the front page when the business was threatened by developers – who ultimately failed to kick them out.

At the time, the shop won the backing of Mo Mowlam and Alexander McQueen.
