A new shop is promising Islington’s most “glugable” wine list.

Linden Stores, which has opened off St Paul’s Road, is also bringing the spirit of Scarborough to Highbury – being named after a street in the Yorkshire coastal town.

It’s a wine shop with a restaurant in the basement, and has opened in the former premises of fish restaurant and fishmonger Prawn on the Lawn. This has moved a few doors down to a shop close to Highbury Corner.

It formally opened yesterday and has been launched by Laura Christie and partner Chris Boustead.

He named the shop after Linden Road, where he grew up, while his childhood memories there were also the inspiration for the restaurant menu of seasonal British dishes.

Meanwhile, Laura is responsible for the “glugable” stock of wine, promising bottles for every occasion, from “rainy Mondays to big celebrations”.
