A children’s charity will give a new meaning to the phase “carol singing” –when a choir of Carols launches its Christmas campaign.

The Children’s Society is hoping to bring together a large crowd of people called Carol, Carole and even Karol to belt out traditional Christmas tunes in Exmouth Market, Finsbury, on Wednesday, December 14.

The event will launch its winter appeal to raise cash for runaways – and backers include TV presenter Carol Smillie and Carol McGiffin of Loose Women fame.

Carol Smillie said: “I’ve always felt that carols are one of the best parts of Christmas – although I suppose I might be a little biased! The plight of runaway children always seems particularly heartbreaking at this time of year when so many of us will enjoy celebrations with our family and friends. This is one Carol who’s certainly supporting carols for a great cause.”

Contact the society on 020 7841 4422 or mea@childrenssociety.org.uk if you would like to take part. People with other names are invited to join in too.
