An attempt to ban Wireless Festival from Finsbury Park has been dismissed by High Court judges.
Campaign group the Friends of Finsbury Park had challenged Haringey Council’s decision to allow the festival to return after serious crime and violence at the event last year.
But after two-day judicial review, the court rejected the group’s argument that the council did not have power to grant permission to hire out the park as well as their issues with the consultation.
Wireless, which features largely urban acts, attracts up to 45,000 revellers. Last year the festival was blighted by hordes of gatecrashers and knife crime.
Haringey Council’s environment boss Cllr Peray Ahmet welcomed the decision.
She said: ““We are pleased with today’s ruling, which means that large scale live music events in Finsbury Park and open spaces across London are no longer under threat.
“Events like Wireless make a huge contribution to London’s cultural scene.
