Cops were called at 10.50pm to reports of a disturbance in Grosvenor Avenue, where they found the young man suffering from knife wounds.

He was rushed to hospital and his wounds aren’t “life threatening”.

“We just heard loads of metal crashing,” said Collet, who lives on Grosvenor Avenue but didn’t give her surname.

“I saw a smashed up silver hatchback car driving up on the pavement and then speed off – there was debris on the floor.

“I think they were using the cars as weapons. There were young kids running around everywhere.”

Colette added: “One of the kids was hurt and ended up being taken to one of those flats [she gestures across the road at Hillfield House}

“He looked a very young lad – it’s really heartbreaking.”

She said a similar incident, involving cars, happened a few weeks ago outside the estate.

“Crime is one the increase,” she added. “And it’s endemic of police stations being closed. The officers can’t keep up.”

One shopkeeper, who asked for anonymity out of fear for his family, said: “The crime rate in this area has been increasing every day.

“We’ve had people coming in and threaten us many times.

“We’re not scared but really need police help.”

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “Officers attended and found an 18-year-old man suffering from stab injuries.

“He was taken to a north London hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

“His injuries are not life threatening.”

No arrests have been made and enquires continue.
