A Canonbury street artist known as “the man behind the easel” is having his work exhibited – in the local pub.
The Canonbury Tavern approached Gary Power in October and asked him if he wanted to showcase his work on the walls of the popular venue.
Gary, 53, who has lived in the borough all his life, is well known in the area for his oil paintings, which he does out in the streets.
“There are 30 or 40 of my paintings around the pub,” Gary said. “They have covered the walls, and it’s a huge pub.
“There’s been a lot of interest in the exhibition and I’ve tried to turn the pub into a bit of an art gallery. I think it’s a nice thing to do and is a real community thing.”
Gary is now actively selling the paintings, but is accepting enquiries and has already sold five.
