Despite spending seven hours in an Tube tunnel and being driven over by 250 trains, a Tufnell Park cat was somehow saved by Transport for London (TfL) staff on Wednesday.
Blitz the cat sneaked into the tunnel, just north of Tufnell Park station, and after reports he had been hit by a train, TfL's Emergency Response Unit (ERU) were called out to attend to what they described as "an unusual trespasser".
The ERU arrived on site to find Blitz huddled on the track between the running rail and positive rail and were initially unable to tell if he was alive.
Fortunately, despite an estimate of 250 trains having passed over him, he was - and with help from customer service manager Dave Keenan, he was even reunited with his family.
Dave added: "To survive almost seven hours in a tunnel laying on the track and have some 250 trains go over it is nothing short of a miracle.
"Blitz's owners came into the station last night to tell us how grateful they were to the ERU and the station staff for saving him, and that he was doing well and was recovering at a local vet."
