SURELY it is time for a Central Government inquiry into Homes for Islington (HfI) with regards to contractors and overpricing.

An Audit Commission report has said that Islington Council's contract monitoring is inadequate. Also Price Waterhouse Cooper discovered missing millions, the Office of Fair Trading fined nine Islington contractors for price rigging and the council's internal audit gave a grade of "No Assurance" for having an ineffective management. It employs them, funds them, monitors them and has a veto of their actions. - P.J. Leamy, via e-mail.
