The Charterhouse is offering “a treasure trove” of seasonal treats at its first ever Christmas fair in Clerkenwell today.
The complex of historic buildings, sandwiched between Barbican and Smithfield Market, is open to the public from 11.00am to 7.00pm today for the fair.
The event is free for under 12s and over 60s but costs £3 for everyone else.
And organisers have promised “a treasure trove of gifts from cashmere hats and chocolate, to jewellery and gin, in the glorious atmospheric surrounds of this former Tudor mansion”.
The Chartehouse is former Carthusian monastery, which was dissolved in the 1537. It has also served as a boys’ school and an almshouse.
