Gary Heather’s letter (Viewpoints, Gazette, September 30) showed just how much lslington Labour is in denial about the national debt.
As Vince Cable said last week, Labour has turned into the “‘Not us guv” party. Deficit; what deficit? Nothing to do with us, they say. Except that it has everything to do with Labour.
But Labour locally do have a choice now they run the council. They could keep their promises on slashing councillor allowances and glossy propaganda. They could stop wasting millions of pounds providing free school meals to children who don’t even live in Islington.
