A children’s adventure playground has been reopened after it was burnt down in a suspected arson last year.
The Three Corners Adventure Playground, in Clerkenwell, had Islington Mayor Cllr Barry Edwards on hand to open the new playground.
Children and young people from the borough helped design the new structure, and Action Play were commissioned by Islington Council to carry out the rebuild.
Islington Council’s executive member for children and families, Cllr Joe Caluori said: “I know how much local children enjoy spending time at Three Corners Adventure Playground.
“We at the council saw how important it was to rebuild the playground so that local children were again able to play and have fun.
“The continued support during the disruption from children using the playground, parents and families, local community groups, play staff and councillors to rebuild Three Corners Adventure Playground is a testimony to the commitment in Islington for adventure play.”
Last year the wooden adventure play structure at the playground was destroyed in a suspected arson attack. Security has been improved to avoid similar incidents like last year’s fire, with lockable doors to the labyrinth area.
