I WAS disappointed to read the front page article of your newspaper ("Pensioner in car insurance postcode row"), Gazette, September 16, 2010).
The headline story is factually incorrect. Mr Jacobs was not declined motor insurance by Saga - in fact we had offered him a competitive quote. We were not able to offer him the option to pay by monthly direct debit but he could have paid by debit or credit card or cheque.
We have spoken to Mr Jacobs and he understands the circumstances, has accepted our apology for the inconvenience caused, and has advised that he will consider Saga for motor insurance in the future. - Roger Ramsden, chief executive, Saga Services Ltd.
