A woman has died after being hit by a lorry in City Road near Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Police were called at 12.20pm to the junction with Westland Place and medics fought to save the pedestrian, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road has been taped off between Old Street roundabout and Bath Street.
The lorry driver stopped at the scene. One person has been arrested, Scotland Yard confirmed.
