A vulnerable 55-year-old man woke up to find a thief at the end of his bed.

Police have just released CCTV images of the suspects they are hunting in connection with the incident in Lower Holloway, on August 29, in the hope that the public will help identify them.

A man gained entry to the victim’s home in Piper Close in the early hours of the morning before he woke up to find him at the foot of his bed.

The suspect then told the victim he was a police officer and claimed to have seen two men running from his home earlier that night. He asked the victim where his money was before stealing cash from his wallet and leaving.

He then returned an hour later with a second man and asked for the his wallet again, along with bank cards and a pin number, which he claimed to need for forensic evidence. £200 was then withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.

The first suspect is described as a white man, with a closely shaven head and a high-pitched voice. The second was an older white man with brown balding hair and he was wearing a zip-up top with jeans.

Investigating officer, Det Con Jo Miller said: “These callous suspects convinced a vulnerable man that they were police officers trying to help him, when in fact they were stealing from him. I hope that someone will recognise them and call police”

Anyone with information on their identity should contact CID on 020 7421 0159 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
