DETECTIVES are asking for the public’s help to trace a black cab driver who walked into a police station to report a crime - but disappeared while they arrested his passenger.

The cabbie walked into Islington Police Station, in Tolpuddle Street, Islington, at 2am on November 13 to speak to an officer about a dispute he was having with a man in his taxi.

Police went outside to speak to the passenger, and ended up arresting him, but in the meantime the driver had driven off.

Now the police want to trace him in order to get a proper statement about what went on that night, and have released a CCTV image in the hope that someone will recognise him.

Anyone with information about this should contact Detective Sergeant Chris Skelt at Islington CID on 0207 421 0255 or 0300 123 1212.
