A sports centre used by Team GB during the Olympics has fully reopened to the public after 10 weeks of part closure.
Many facilities at the Sobell Centre, in Iseldon Road, Holloway were closed from July 2 until Tuesday while a number of national teams used if for volleyball training.
Now it is fully open and has benefited from a £250,000 facelift courtesy of Olympic funding, including a sprung wooden floor and improved lighting.
Cllr Janet Burgess, Islington Council’s executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “The Sobell Centre’s sports hall is now fully open for our residents, and has probably never looked better.
She added: “It was wonderful to welcome Olympic athletes to our borough, and is wonderful local people will be using the same top-class sports hall.
“I’d like to thank residents for their patience while the hall was being used for Olympics training.”
