A man has been charged following a brawl outside a Highbury pub which left another man in a critical condition in hospital.

Police charged Matthew Powe, 29, of no fixed abode, with grevious bodily harm following the incident ouside the White Swan in Upper Street, Highbury, at about 11.30pm on Saturday night.

The victim, Vitalis Katakinas, 34, sustained a serious head injury and needed life-saving treatment at the scene. He remains in a critical but stable condition in an east London hospital.

Powe, of no fixed abode, is due to appear in Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today.
