POLICE discovered three knives hidden in bushes on a council estate after a tip off from the local community.

Officers from the Mildmay Safer Neighbourhoods team carried out a thorough search of the Highbury Estate, off Highbury New Park, and found the weapons stashed in the undergrowth.

Sergeant Rob Leslie, from the Mildmay Safer Neighbourhoods team, said: “Community concerns are taken very seriously by our team. We responded promptly to the information we received and carried out a thorough search of the estate. These knives are now off the streets.

“We are determined to keep the area as safe as possible for all our residents and urge anyone with information on crime and anti social behaviour to contact us.”
