Police issue warning about bad batch of MDMA at Farringdon club threatened with closure last year.

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after collapsing from taking a bad batch of a class A drugs at a Farringdon nightclub.

Police were called to Fabric in Chaterhouse Street at 5am today, where it is believed the victim suffered “adverse effects” from taking MDMA at the venue.

Police officers in Islington have issued a warning to anyone planning to take the illegal drug that the incident could have been caused by a particular batch of the substance currently in circulation.

The woman was in a north London hospital in critical condition this afternoon and police were attempting to contact her next of kin.

The incident comes after the Fabric’s owners were pulled in front of Islington Council’s licensing committee following two drug related deaths at the venue in the space of just a few months.

The club was allowed to keep it’s licence and more than 40,000 people from all around the world signed a petition to save the night spot.

However, strict conditions were imposed – with the venue obliged to put sniffer dogs on the doors for 50 per cent of events and search every clubber who enters the venue.
