A man has been charged over a “heartbreaking” jewellery theft from a bereaved Islington vicar.
James Casey, 39, of no fixed abode, was charged yesterday with burglary in Upper Street.
He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on the same day and has been remanded in custody.
Mr Casey will next appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on Monday, June 27.
On Thursday, grieving vicar Simon Harvey told the Gazette how he was “heartbroken” at the theft on Wednesday.
Jennifer, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 29 years, died of a mystery illness only 10 weeks ago.
He said: “That sudden discovery was like a body blow, really.
“I think I just burst into tears in front of the police officers.
“I sobbed and sobbed last night.”
