A pub which neighbours say attracts drug dealing, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour will have plans for an early hours licence decided on Tuesday.
The application for the Auld Triangle in Finsbury Park to extend its alcohol licence from 11pm to 1am was branded a “joke” by some residents living close to the St Thomas’s Road boozer when it first went before the town hall’s licensing committee in the summer.
Numerous neighbours wrote to the council saying that the noise – particularly on Arsenal match days or after concerts – made their lives hell, while police said the venue has already been pulled up for serving after hours.
Management at the pub denied the allegations and the decision was deferred from September to go before Tuesday’s committee meeting, where a report prepared by a council officer will recommended the application is refused.
One neighbour wrote: “The cheek of this pub and the council to even think the pub can have a late licence, given the trouble this pub has caused on evenings when the garden is used and lock-ins take place.
“My family gets no sleep whatsoever.”
Other neighbours, while objecting to an extension, described the pub as a “friendly community pub”.
A spokesman for the pub said: “We’re sorry to read that the residents feel this way about the pub. It is a family-run pub with full CCTV and relevant security etc on the days needed.
“We have never once had police come into the pub or even had complaints over any of the allegations above.”
