An RAF air cadet who put the needs of his squadron first has picked up a prestigious award.
Cpl Klaudiyus Bertovas, 18, from the 9F (Islington) Squadron ATC, was presented with a Jack Petchey Award at a ceremony in Kensington on February 16. He is a senior cadet and has been carrying out good work in the squadron’s communications department.
As part of the award he was given a £200 cheque, which he used to subsidise the cost of fellow cadets’ tickets for a recent anniversary event, enabling them to all attend.
Group Capt Leslie Hakin OBE, who attended the awards ceremony, said: “The cadets are well-led and motivated by the adult volunteers and I commend them for their sterling efforts.”
