A cab driver has been acquitted of death by careless driving following a fatal accident involving an Islington pensioner.
Renee Peett, 91, of Petherton Road, Highbury, died two days after the collision with Noel Cameron’s taxi on Waterloo Bridge in 2011, which left her with a shattered pelvis and broken spine.
The 54-year-old driver, of Sixth Avenue, Manor Park, was heading south across the bridge taking a teenage passenger from his school in north London to Fulham training ground at about 5.30pm on October 3 2011.
Ms Peett, who had health problems, dementia and used a walking stick, tried to cross the road.
Mr Cameron was found not guilty of causing death by careless driving by a juryat Inner London Crown Court found him not guilty of the offence last Thursday following a three day trial.
