A family’s “reign of terror” is over after they were evicted from an Islington estate.

Hyde Northside and Islington Council staff, aided by police, evicted the family, which includes six children, from the Packington estate on May 10.

Over a three-year period, family members admitted 28 of 69 antisocial behaviour incidents.

According to police, some of the children stole mopeds, took and dealed drugs, caused a nuisance with their motorbikes and intimidated tenants.

Sgt Liam Redrup of St Peters Safer Neighbourhood Team, which helped with the eviction after being repeatedly called to disorder involving the family, said: “We listened to local residents and took effective action to improve their quality of life. This reign of terror is over.”

After a two-day hearing in Clerkenwell and Shoreditch County Court in February, Hyde Northside was granted an order to evict the family.

Nazir Hafezjee, service director for Hyde Northside, said: “We received numerous complaints from tenants who were terrified of stepping forward.

“Hyde staff worked tirelessly with the police and council to stop the childrens’ behaviour, repeatedly warning them about the consequences.

“When it continued, we took the necessary action to ensure the neighbourhood returned to normality for all our law-abiding tenants.”

Cllr Paul Convery, executive member for community safety, said: “It is vitally important that tenants report such behaviour so we can make estates safer. Packington tenants did this and I commend their bravery.”
