A convicted robber is one of 37 gun traders jailed after a massive police operation.

Gun dealers and drug suppliers, including Michael Ludia, 19, of Byworth Walk, Archway, have been imprisoned following the investigation codenamed Operation Peyzac.

Undercover officers from the Metropolitan Police Service set up a shop called the Boombox where they filmed trading of firearms, ammunition and drugs for 12 months in response to five murders in Enfield in 2008.

In April 2010, police raided 35 addresses across London with the evidence uncovered and discovered 21 guns and a stash of other weapons and class A drugs. Those arrested including Ludia were sentenced to a combined total of 400 years at Wood Green Court between August 2010 and this month.

Ludia, convicted of conspiracy to supply firearms, has been sent to prison for nine-and-a-half years.

He has been sentenced to four years for the firearms offences and five and a half years in relation to six robberies and nine frauds.

He was found guilty at Blackfriars Crown Court on June 30 of robbing six people last summer and using their bank cards to buy stuff online. The court heard he threatened victims with a knife, forcing them to hand over phones and wallets.

Mak Chishty, area commander for North London, said: “I am extremely pleased with these court results which are the culmination of a pre-planned, long-term operation and highlight the commitment of the Metropolitan Police Service to tackle serious and organised crime.”
