A teenager has been charged with the theft of a laptop from under its owner’s nose in an Archway cafe.
In October, the Gazette obtained footage of a male storming into Bread and Bean cafe, in Junction Road. He snatched an £800 Macbook from a woman’s table by the window before escaping with an accomplice on a moped, which had been propping the shop door open.
A boy, 17, from Billericay in Essex, has now been charged with theft by finding and appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on November 18.
He was also charged with three counts of robbery on the same day – October 17 – as when the laptop theft happened. Two of the charges relate to iPhone robberies reported in Lennox Road, Finsbury Park, and Pauntley Road, Archway.
The teen, together with a 14-year-old boy from Hornsey, was also charged with a string of “moped enabled” offences on August 25.
It includes six counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery. Three of the charges relate to iPhone and Samsung Galaxy robberies outside Archway station, in nearby St John’s Way and in Hazelville Road, Hornsey Rise.
Both defendants were bailed until their next court appearance on December 21.
