A drug dealer was caught with £450,000 worth of cocaine in Hoxton as part of a Met crack-down on a multi-million pound conspiracy.
Four men have now been sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison for conspiracy to sell Class A drugs as a result of the operation, including Anthony Matthews, of Manor Road, Chigwell, who was jailed for nine years on Monday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
Matthews, 33, was seen handing a suitcase to Darren Angol in east London in July 2012, before Angol, 34, of Millfields Road, was stopped by police in Pitfield Street and found with 2.46kg of cocaine.
After tracking Matthews for several weeks, officers observed meetings with Charlie Court, 28, of Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, who was found to be hiding a 27kg stash of “high grade cocaine” – which the police say had a street value of over £5million – at a business property in Hertfordshire.
Court was sentenced to 13 years in prison in January 2013 after admitting conspiracy to sell Class A drugs and Angol was jailed for five years in October 2012 after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply.
