A drug dealer found with a huge amount of heroin when police stopped a car in Highbury has been jailed for five years.

Ricardo Brady, 36, of Amhurst Road, Hackney, was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on May 26 after pleading guilty of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Two neighbourhood officers on motorbikes stopped a vehicle in Highbury Hill in April. During the search they found Brady, who was a passenger in the car, had 358.5 grammes of heroin in a bag hidden in the waistband of his trousers.

Sergeant Derek Wright, from the pro-active crime squad, said: “Police in Islington are committed to tackling the illegal drugs trade. Brady was caught due to the vigilance of the police officers who saw him acting suspiciously and we are pleased that these drugs have been taken off the streets of Islington.”
