A fraudster who sold thousands of fake IDs to criminals and illegal immigrants across London has been jailed for five and a half years.
Medi Krasniqi, 47, of Crobyn Street, Finsbury Park, charged between £80 and £500 for forged documents which he handed over to clients at cafes in the Turnpike Lane area.
Krasniqi, a British citizen, was caught by the National Crime Agency (NCA) as part of an investigation into Albanian-led crime cells which has now led to more than 68 years of jail sentences being handed out.
He pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court on December 15 to conspiring to produce false identity documents, possession of false ID and money laundering charges. He was sentenced at the same court on Monday.
One of the ID forms Krasniqi specialised in was certification to work in the construction industry, which could mean hundreds of his clients are working in the UK without the proper qualifications.
