A drug dealer has been sentenced to four years imprisonment after being caught with over 24,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis.

William Flanagan, 34, of Hanley Road, Finsbury Park, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs before a trial was due to start at Blackfriars Crown Court.

Sentencing Flanagan on February 3, the judge took into consideration the 91 days he had spent in custody since being charged. He was also required to forfeit 1,170 in cash seized by police when they raided his property in November.

Investigating officer, Det Con John Vinten from Islington Crime Squad, said: “Flanagan attempted to claim that he was forced at gunpoint to hold the drugs and cash because he owed money to a gang.

“I am pleased that he has been brought to justice and that illegal drugs have been taken off the streets of Islington.”
