Four women have been arrested after two men were stabbed and another was left with head injuries in Islington overnight.

Police were called to the scene in Greenman Street, off Essex Road, just before midnight to reports of two men being stabbed.

On arrival they found a 41-year-old man with stab wounds and he was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Another man sustained minor knife wounds to his arm and a third man was found with head injuries which are not thought to be serious.

A Met Police spokesman said that four women were arrested at the scene and they remain in police custody.

Investigations continue at the scene and Essex Road remains closed at the junction with Greenman Street.
