BTP have issued CCTV images and want to speak to three men in connection with the assault on both the woman and the man who tried to help her.

DC David Bishop said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and a cowardly attack on a passenger who had bravely intervened.

“The inappropriate behaviour and assaults on both the woman and the man were simply unacceptable, and I’m confident the men in the CCTV we’ve released have crucial information to help our investigation.

“I’m asking for anyone who can name these men, or has any information that can assist with our inquiries, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
