The heartbroken mother of a man stabbed to death in Holloway has spoken of her grief.

Andrew Jaipaul, 21, died after being repeatedly knifed in an attack by a group of up to 20 men on the Andover Estate, off Hornsey Road, on Sunday June 26.

Speaking to the Islington Gazette, his mum Joanna Jaipaul said: “I am trying to come to terms with it everyday.

“It is difficult knowing that my son will never walk through that door again and that I will never get to see how he would have appeared when he is older. I will never see his offspring or what my grandchildren could look like. It is tragic to die in such a way. But I have to be strong for my two boys.”

Mr Jaipaul, who died at the scene, lived on nearby Birnam Road which backs on to the estate.

He has two brothers Charles, 25, and Edward, 16, and a half sister Rachel, 38.

His mum said: “He was a quiet boy, who liked to play computer games and listen to music and just do the normal things any 21-year-old would do..”

Mrs Jaipaul, who works at Chase Farm Hospital, pleaded for his friends to not seek retribution.

She said: “I don’t want to see revenge because it won’t bring my Andrew back. And I don want any other mother to go through the trauma and pain that I have felt.”
