A man accused of stalking a well-known TV presenter for two years, bombarding her with more than 100,000 tweets, has denied charges of harassment.
Adrian Johnson, 54, of Highbury Grove, Highbury, is also said to have sent gifts to Channel 4 news reader Cathy Newman, visited her workplace repeatedly and even kissed her at a public event.
Johnson, who pleaded not guilty to behaviour amounting to harassment between January 2012 and December 2013, appeared before Highbury magistrates on Friday, where he was remanded on bail until a two-day trial expected to begin on October 1 at the same court.
As a condition of bail, he was ordered not to go within 50 yards of Ms Newman, or to attend the ITN Building in Gray’s Inn Road, Holborn, where she works. Ms Newman, who has been married since 2001, is expected to give evidence on day two of the trial.
