A BROTHEL selling sex on a quiet residential street has shut up shop after police acted on complaints from neighbours.
The house in Marlborough Road, Upper Holloway, was visited on a number of occasions by officers from the Tollington Safer Neighbourhoods team after people living nearby claimed it was making their lives a misery.
Police told the owners that they would be liable for prosecution under the Sexual Offences Act 1956 if they continued to operate, and returned recently to find it vacant and the prostitutes gone.
Police Constable Mo Batson, from the Tollington Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is a great result for the local community. We always listen to residents’ concerns and act on them. In this case, we have successfully closed down premises that were concerned in anti-social activities. Contact us if you have any information or concerns about anti-social behaviour in Tollington ward.”
