A town hall singing troupe were flying high after their sell-out performance at an Islington school.

The 180-strong crowd were treated to a 14-song set from the Islington Council choir last Thursday, including show tunes, classical arias, jazz and pop/rock classics.

More than 14 war veterans were in the audience at St Mary Magdalene Academy, in Liverpool Road, and the second half of the show was devoted to war songs in their honour.

Heidi Rossetter, chairman of the choir, said: “It went really well and the crowd got really involved with the sing along for ‘We’ll Meet Again’.

“Everyone sang really well and we were trying to move more and not use song sheets. Now we’re looking forward to preparing for our Christmas concert.”
