A man has been jailed after threatening to stab a member of staff at Archway tube station.

Selwyn Wright, 54, was imprisoned for 25 weeks at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to the offence.

Wright was already subject to a criminal behaviour order, under which he wasn’t allowed to be at the station in the first place. He was arrested close to the scene.

Sgt Ben Payne, from the Finsbury Park neighbourhood policing team, said: “Rail staff and members of the public should not have to be subjected to or witness this type of threatening and anti-social behaviour.

“We take all incidents of this nature seriously and are grateful to the victim for his bravery in reporting this matter to police. Fortunately, both British Transport Police and Met Police officers were nearby and were able to locate Wright quickly, identify him and arrest him.”
