The man accused of carrying out the Finsbury Park terror attack has pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder.

Darren Osborne allegedly mowed down Makram Ali, 51, and nine other people on a crowded pavement in Seven Sisters Road.

The area was busy with Muslim worshippers who had been attending Ramadan night prayers at the Muslim Welfare House.

Osborne, 48, of Glyn Rhosyn, in Cardiff, is charged with the murder of Mr Ali and attempted murder.

The charges state he murdered Mr Ali on June 19 and attempted to murder “persons at the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Whadcoat Street, London” on the same date.

He appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh jail today. Wearing a red T-shirt, he spoke only to confirm his identity and deny the charges.

He was remanded into custody until his trial on January 22 at Woolwich Crown Court.
