A MAN accused of taking part in two armed raids during which a father and son were injured as they fought back is to stand trial in October.

Levi Ingram, 20, appeared at Blackfriars Crown Court to face a series of charges in relation to robberies at Gonca supermarket, in Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, and My Shop, in Fortess Road, Tufnell Park.

Dogan Sahim, 46, and his 25-year-old son Yilmaz were working at Gonca supermarket when it was held up by two masked robbers on December 21 last year.

The father suffered knife wounds on his face and hands while the son had gashes on his head from being pistol-whipped.

CCTV images released during a police appeal showed the suspects, wearing balaclavas and hoods, entering the shop before one of the men put a gun to the shopkeeper’s head. The camera footage showed the gunman pistol-whipping the son while the knifeman jabbed at the father’s face. Following the late evening incident, which spilled onto the street, the attackers fled empty-handed down nearby Monsell Road.

Just 10 minutes earlier, two men had raided My Shop in Tufnell Park, threatening staff with a gun and a knife and making off with 300 cash from the till.

The pair escaped along Burghley Road from Dartmouth Park Hill, leaving staff shocked but unhurt.

Ingram, of Bouverie Road, Hackney, faces one charge of robbery, one of attempted robbery, two of wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, possessing an imitation firearm at the time of a robbery and possessing an offensive weapon.

Following the preliminary hearing, Judge Peter Clarke remanded Ingram in custody ahead of a plea and case management hearing on June 16.

A trial was set for October 3.
