An 18-year-old from Clerkenwell has been charged with the murder of a man who was knifed to death at a flat in Colchester.
Jack Hummerstone, who was arrested in Errol Street in a dawn swoop on Sunday, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with murder, GBH with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The arrest ends a month-long manhunt for the teenager after Thomas Brittain, 26, died after being stabbed at a flat in Colchester on March 9.
Another 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday but was released on bail until May 30. Another unemployed 19-year-old from Essex – Andre Vella – has also been charged with the murder and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last month.
