A masked man was arrested in Upper Holloway in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of possessing a samurai sword.
Just after midnight, police were called to Hornsey Road after receiving reports of a group of youths armed with bricks and sticks.
On attendance, officers spotted a man wearing a hockey-style mask carrying a large bag. On seeing the officers, he ran off and was chased. He was detained and the mask and bag, found to contain a samurai-style sword, were recovered.
The man, believed to be 21, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and taken into custody at a north London police station.
Enquiries by Islington Borough officers are continuing this morning.
