Pentonville Prison inmate charged with murder of Jamal Mahmoud

A man has been charged with murdering Pentonville Prison inmate Jamal Mahmoud on Tuesday.

Basana Kimbembi, 34, also a prisoner at the Caledonian Road jail, will appear via video link at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Mr Mahmoud, 21, died of a stab wound. Two other inmates were injured in the incident, but are in stable condition.

A second man, 26, was also arrested on suspicion of murder, but he has been released from custody and returned to prison.
