Two prisoners have been arrested after an inmate was stabbed to death at Pentonville Prison yesterday.

Officers were called to the prison, in Caledonian Road, at 3.30pm. The man, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene one hour later.

Two other men, 21 and 30, were taken to hospital with serious stab wounds. They remain in critical condition, a Met spokesman said this morning.

A 34-year-old man and 26-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being questioned.

Formal identification of the deceased victim awaits.
