Good samaritans detained alleged attacker but victim has still not come forward

A sexual assault victim who was rescued from her alleged attacker by two good samaritans is being sought by police to help with the investigation.

Officers put out an appeal shortly after the assault which took place at 2.15am on Sunday March 1 but have yet to hear from the woman they believe was the victim of a serious sexual assault just off Caledonian Road in Holloway.

Police were called to the incident in Sturmer Way and spoke to two members of the public who had detained a man after allegedly catching him sexually assaulting a woman.

They said the man had attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by the two - one of whom witnessed the attack.

A further witness was subsequently traced who spoke to the victim immediately after the attack.

They stated the victim had said she was staying with friends in Finchley Central while visiting London for the weekend from Bristol.

The victim of the sexual assault is described as a white woman aged between 22 and 27 years with curly hair. Police are urging her to contact them immediately.

The man detained by the two men was subsequently arrested by police and later charged. He currently awaits trial.

The victim and suspect are not believed to be known to each other.

Officers from the Met’s sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command are investigating.
