POLICE seized knives, screwdrivers and hockey sticks from an area where teenage gangs have been hanging around.
More than 18 dangerous weapons were uncovered by the Tollington Safer Neighbourhoods team during an operation in Crouch Hall Court, Sparsholt Road, Crouch Hill, last Thursday (March 24).
Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with possession of offensive weapons.
Police constable Matt Fletcher from the Tollington Safer Neighbourhoods team, said: “We acted quickly after listening to serious concerns from local residents about an escalation in anti social behaviour with young people congregating in the area. The items found were highly likely to be used in crime but have now been taken off the streets. We will continue to work closely with residents to address their concerns and tackle this issue.”
Police were helped by Hillrise and St George’s Safer Neighbourhoods teams and a parks patrol.
A residents’ association meeting will be held in conjunction with Homes for Islington at the Hanley Crouch Community Centre, also known as the Laundry Club, tonight (April 4) at 7pm.
