A reckless driver has been jailed for eight years after he killed a pedestrian in February.

Kelvin Peart, 29, crashed into 63-year-old Pargji Chudasama in Balls Pond Road, Newington Green, on February 16, at the junction with Mildmay Park.

Mr Chudasama, of Wembley, was air-lifted to hospital after suffering serious head injuries, but died two days later.

Peart, of Murchison Road, Leyton, was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday (July 8) after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. He was disqualified from driving for two years.
