Schoolgirl could be blinded after Canonbury acid attack
A schoolgirl could be left blind in one eye after acid was thrown in her face in an unprovoked attack.
Three girls were attacked outside a park near New River Walk in Canonbury Grove, Canonbury, at 9.30pm on Saturday.
Boys riding on bikes with their faces covered threw ammonia over the girls. A 13-year-old was seriously injured in one eye and her two pals, aged 14 and 15, had breathing difficulties after accidentally inhaling the substance.
The girl whose eye was injured said: “I did not recognise the guys because they had their faces covered up.
“I just remember screaming and not being able to see anything..”
Her mum said: “My daughter was blinded and screaming ‘I can’t see’. Her right eye has been permanently damaged and she could lose her sight in that eye.”
The girl was taken to Moorfield Eye Hospital, in Finsbury, and her two friends were taken to The Whittington Hospital in Archway.
