A man has been jailed for five years after a series of knifepoint robberies.

Kareem Miller, 22, was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday after admitting three counts of robbery and possession of a pointed or bladed article.

On Monday, July 20, Miller arranged to meet a 33-year-old man in Turkey Street, Enfield, after seeing he was advertising a mini Segway scooter online. When the man showed Miller the Segway in his car, Miller held a knife to the victim’s throat and threatened him before making off with the scooter.

On Thursday, July 23, Miller arranged to meet a 49-year old man in Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, after he also advertised a Segway. When the man opened the boot of his car, Miller again threatened him with a knife and made off with the Segway.

On Thursday, August, 20, an 18-year-old man was on a pedal bike in Dufferin Street, near Old Street, and was stopped by Miller who asked to buy the bike off him. An amount was agreed and then Miller pulled out a knife and rode off on the bike.

Officers from Islington CID identified Miller the next day, on Friday, August 21.

Miller was spotted in Errol Street, which is next to Dufferin Street. Upon seeing officers he ran off towards Bunshill Fields. Officers chased him and saw him throw away a combat style knife.

Miller, of Lushington Road, Catford, was detained and arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Acting Det Sgt Victoria Teagle said: “This case demonstrates that the Met will go above and beyond to catch the perpetrators of knife crime, and that the courts will jail those responsible for such serious offences against innocent victims.”
